There are so many features on Instagram that people simply aren’t using—then they wonder why their content isn’t being seen by anyone.
If you’re trying to grow your account, boost engagement, and attract the right audience, it's time to start taking full advantage of what the platform has to offer. Here are a few underrated but powerful tools you should be using:
1. Stories
Instagram Stories is probably the easiest form of engagement on your page. If you want your numbers to rise, using Stories consistently will help you get there. Unlike feed posts that can get lost on people’s home pages, if you’re constantly posting Stories, Instagram is more likely to push you to the front of people’s lists and show your page to more users.
Stories also allow you to add interactive features like:
Question boxes
Polls
Ratings
Links
Products
…all things your feed posts can’t do. By adding these features, your engagement will naturally start to grow
2. Scheduling
No more complaining about not having enough time to post or “forgetting” to post. By pre-scheduling your content, you can organise months’ worth of posts weeks in advance. So, the excuse of not having time? That’s officially in the past.
3. Reels
Although they can feel daunting, Reels have a 36% higher reach than static posts—thanks to the rising love for short-form video content and Instagram’s algorithm boosting their visibility. This gives you a much greater chance of reaching a wider audience and attracting more “non-followers” to your page.
4. Pinned Posts
As a business, pinned posts can be incredibly valuable for attracting the right audience. A pinned post is the first thing someone sees when they land on your profile. So, making sure you’re using this space to make a strong first impression can play a key role in account growth.
5. Comments/DMs
You’re truly missing out on potential clients, followers, and engagement if you’re not actively communicating with your audience. A simple comment on someone’s post or a reply to a DM builds engagement, creates a sense of community, and also helps make your account more visible to other users and creators.
Bottom Line
If you're not making the most of all the features Instagram has to offer, you're leaving growth on the table. Whether it’s showing up on Stories, posting Reels, or simply replying to a DM every small action adds up.
Start using these features with intention, and watch your engagement (and following) grow.
